Davis has been having up and down moments all week. We had a great day Saturday with the football season officially kicking-off. Ryan and Ben are loving the game. Davis was able to go and watch most of the games. He was able to see "his" team practicing during one of the boys games this week. It made his day to hear the whistle frantically blowing to stop practice so everyone could talk with him. My emotions run high, as well as running out of my face, as I watch him interact and they cheer his name within the team circle. We had a fun family night planned on Saturday to celebrate Courtney leaving and the school year beginning, when Davis experienced a random visual and vomiting episode. He was sitting in the chair, when Courtney noticed he was looking confused. When he didn't respond and looked up, his eyes were rapidly moving from side to side in his head, like a fast speed tennis match. This was followed by weakness and vomiting within a ten minute span. Then as quickly as it came on, it left. The usless feeling of trying to support a weak child to the car and then the ever so long ride to the hospital is emotionally exhausting. We spent time in the ER to rule-out a brain bleed and get an explanation for the bazaar event. Neurologically Davis passed all tests with flying colors and the CT scan cleared any bleeds in his head. Home again on IV fluids and meds. Besides being exhausted from the night, he has had a good day today and has his clothes and backpack set out with hope for attending the first day of school.
We have been in a bit of disarray while sorting out rooms and making our home function for our changing dynamics. Davis has been pining for Courtney's room for months, but I hold on to the hope that if we keep it her room, she will visit often. Davis has been in Emmi's room and Emmi down stairs with the boys in a big barrack style room. Ben and Ryan are the two that NEED to be separated, however, much to the distress of us all, they will continue to share until they can get along! We cleared out the extra "project" room, that is now Davis' room and Emmi is back up in her room with a smile on her face. Needless to say with all the unusual happenings and school craziness, we look like we are moving in every room.
Tomorrow, Monday August 23rd brings yet a new adventure for us. Courtney moves to Provo, and my Emmi goes to first grade. The day is planned from sun-up labs, to bus rides, to first day photos, to what will Davis feel like, to a move to Provo and Jeff out of town! So far tonight, I haven't cried for two hours. The uncertain emotions are both happy and well, uncertain as to just what is next! I have been seen laughing and crying in one breath. Surprisingly, I feel calm, just reflective. I am constantly reminded that I can fight it all I want, but changes in life will happen with or with out my consent.
Happy 2010-2011 school year to all!
